The new Somaliland government announced SomCable to become the local Carrier of choice to establish undersea cables as well as the national backhaul infrastructure in Somaliland.
The company plans to establish an undersea cable connectivity to Berbera from the nearest Terminal station which is Djibouti. In addition to the undersea cable connectivity the company plans to build a terresterial network which will provide the backbone infrastructure for Somaliland.
The initial estimate of the project is USD 40 million and this investment is from the owner of this company Mohamed Said Geudi who has other businesses in the region.
